Teaching Philosophy:
Time that is spent with students is never wasted. Every interaction with a student, no matter how minute, is valuable. I believe that my role as a teacher is to take advantage of every small moment I have with my students; to teach them the things that they need to learn on their individual levels. This is a challenge that I wish to take on and excel in.
I also believe that students deserve an equal opportunity. In my classroom, I hope to give all my students an equal opportunity to succeed both in academia and personal growth. Developing the whole child (emotionally, physically, morally, academically, and socially) is of the utmost importance to me because I believe that we all should be taught how to strive for success in all areas; it is possible! To do this, I incorporate Garner’s Multiple Intelligences into my teaching so that all my students will feel successful in at least one area that is partial to them, if not more. By doing this, I believe that each of my students will leave my classroom everyday knowing that they have achieved success!
In correlation, I use the best practices available to teach my students. First, I incorporate the Daily Five Literacy Model into my language arts teaching. I believe that combining guided reading, self-selected reading, writing, listening to reading, and working with words will help my students make stronger connections to what they are learning. I use the Daily Five in our classroom to help my students become independent learners. In order to further foster my students’ growth in making stronger connections to what they are learning, I integrate all the subject areas, via the use of the arts, and provide real-life opportunities inside the classroom. I believe this will help my students understand what they are learning at a deeper level and realize that learning can be meaningful for them. I believe that using such practices that are research-based will allow each of my students to grow tremendously.
I believe all these things will help my students take ownership of their learning and success, which is a main goal of mine as a teacher. I believe that when students take ownership of their own learning and success, they have it to hold on to for the rest of their lives. To me, teaching is all about seeing growth in your students, having your students leave your classroom knowing that they are successful, and having your students know that what they learn has meaning!

Why and How?
Introduction
I have a passion for this profession, for children, for learning, and for our future. It is important for all children to be challenged throughout their educational careers and throughout their lives. A child’s education should prepare them for life. All children should learn to be accountable for their own learning, to collaborate and work together, to be able to support their thoughts, and to make inferences in all subjects. I am confident in my abilities to differentiate, build relationships, and develop proper assessments to make learning an enjoyable success for all students who enter my classroom.
Classroom Management
I believe that when students have a voice in their learning, they develop a drive to succeed that they instill in themselves. I want my students to have guided choice in their learning. Students should feel safe, welcome, and like a member of a community when they are in their classrooms, and school buildings. Students should be held accountable for their actions, should have high expectations for themselves, and expect to be held to high standards in my classroom. Positive reinforcement is essential, but all students should be held to the same rules and guidelines, and expected to be respectful, responsible, and safe learners. When students know exactly what is expected of them, they are able to perform better, and are likely to enjoy learning.
Differentiation
Differentiation of lessons and learning is essential in an elementary classroom. Each student who steps foot into my classroom is a unique individual who enjoys different things, learns in different ways, comes from different backgrounds, and celebrates different cultures. Each student is capable of learning, and has something to bring to the classroom, the school, and their peers and community. It is my job to make sure that I build relationships with my students based on honesty, trust, respect, and collaboration, in order to help each student learn to their maximum capabilities. Each student's prior knowledge, backgrounds, cultures, and experiences should be taken into account when planning for lessons. I believe that each student can teach his/her teacher and peers just as much as the teacher can teach the students.
Lifelong Learners
I advocate for technology in education. I support the initiative for our children learning how to use all forms technology in all aspects of their lives in moderation. I believe in student exploration, student leadership, research, and teacher modeling. Education and learning should be enjoyable for all children, including those who struggle and those who excel. Education and learning should be accessible to all children without discrimination. I believe in my students, and make it my personal responsibility to model for these students how to be a positive and productive member of society. It is a valuable lesson for all students to learn to appreciate and believe in themselves, their dreams, and their passions. Children are our future and education is the backbone to our future as a society. I am prepared and able to take on this challenge and to hold the responsibility of educating today’s young people in my hands and in my heart. I will always bring my mind, my soul and my heart to every classroom that I step into. I will give my best to show all students that learning should be enjoyable and a life-long journey that doesn't end after high school. I believe in showing vulnerability to my students in which they can see that I am a writer, a reader, and a learner just like they are. Learning never stops, and we can always learn from each other- often valuable lessons.
